Chemistry Standard Level là môn quan trọng nhất cho hầu hết các ngành Y khoa, Dược học, Sinh hoá, và Nutrition Science. Physics SL dễ "có" hơn, nhưng Chemistry SL được Imperial Medicine, Cambridge Medicine, NUS Medicine yêu cầu BẮT BUỘC ở mức tối thiểu level 6.

Khác với Physics, Chemistry SL gồm 11 topic core + 1 option — nội dung nhiều hơn nhưng cấu trúc rõ ràng hơn. HV đi từ cấu trúc nguyên tử, periodic trends, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium, acids/bases, redox, organic chemistry, và measurement.

IBO áp dụng chương trình mới 2025–2026 với cấu trúc Structure–Reactivity–Tools, tinh gọn hơn 25% so với chương trình cũ. IA Scientific Investigation chiếm 20%, vẫn là phần dễ "ăn điểm" cao nhất.

Tại Gia Sư IB, 91% học viên Chemistry SL đạt level 6+, với 8 HV đã vào Cambridge Medicine, Imperial Medicine, NUS Medicine và HKU Medicine năm 2025.

Chemistry SL có đủ cho Medicine không?

Tuỳ trường. UK Medicine top (Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial, UCL) yêu cầu Chemistry HL bắt buộc — Chemistry SL không đủ. UK Medicine tier 2 (Birmingham, Nottingham, Edinburgh) chấp nhận Chemistry SL với điều kiện có Biology HL. Asian Medicine (NUS, HKU, Sydney) thường chấp nhận Chemistry SL nếu kết hợp với Bio HL + Math.

Chemistry SL hay HL — chọn cái nào?

Quy tắc đơn giản: Theo Pre-Med top → Chemistry HL. Theo Pharmacy, Biochem, Nutrition, Sports Sci → Chemistry SL là đủ. Theo Engineering Chemistry → Chemistry HL bắt buộc. Theo Liberal Arts/Business → Chemistry SL chỉ để check Group 4 requirement.

Option Chemistry nào dễ điểm cao nhất?

Option D: Medicinal Chemistry được nhiều trường VN chọn nhất — content thú vị (drugs, painkillers, antibiotics) và dễ liên hệ thực tế. Option B: Biochemistry phù hợp cho Pre-Med. Option A: Materials mới và challenging. Option C: Energy phù hợp cho Engineering.

Chemistry SL khó hơn Chemistry GCSE hay A Level?

Chemistry SL khó hơn GCSE đáng kể (gấp ~2x content), nhưng nhẹ hơn Chemistry A Level (~80%). Nếu so sánh: A Level Chem ≈ Chemistry HL. HV từ IGCSE A* thường thấy Chemistry SL dễ tiếp cận trong DP1.

IA Chemistry SL nên làm thí nghiệm gì?

Topic an toàn: rate of reaction (effect of temperature/concentration), titration (acid-base/redox), enthalpy of combustion. Tránh: organic synthesis (khó kiểm soát), biological systems (nhiều biến). Personal Engagement quan trọng — đề tài liên quan tới sở thích cá nhân (nấu ăn, thể thao, beauty) sẽ được điểm cao hơn.
